Sporting in talks for Bruno Alves

Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon are stepping up their efforts to sign experienced defender Bruno Alves from Fenerbahce, Turkish media outlet Aksam Gazetesi can reveal.

The Lions had a pretty disappointing start to the new campaign and coach Marco Silva is currently on the lookout for defensive reinforcements.

And having been previously linked with a move for Swedish centre-back Alexander Milosevic, Sporting officials seem to have turned their attention to Bruno Alves.

Fenerbahce seem ready to cash in on the 32-year-old after the player , and the two clubs are already in talks over the switch to Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Alves €2.5 million yearly wage could prove to be a problem and he will probably need to accept a pay cut in order to return to Portugal.

Bruno Alves made a name for himself at FC Porto, having spent nine years at Estadio do Dragao before moving to Zenit in 2010.
