John van t Schip starts his tenure as Ajax s interim head coach with an Eredivisie match against FC Volendam at the Johan Cruijff Arena on Thursday evening.
Ajax currently find themselves in an unusual position at the bottom of the league table, experiencing their worst-ever start to a top-flight season. On the other hand, FC Volendam is just two points and two places above them, sitting in 16th place in the Eredivisie.
Following their decision to part ways with Maurice Steijn a week ago, Ajax announced on Monday that John van t Schip will take over as the interim head coach of the senior team until the end of the season. He is also set to take on a role in technical management starting from July 1, 2024.
